Geocache Description:

You will have to be careful, as there are some stairs you will have to go down. And remember: please do not disturb the building, as it is very old! Thank you! :D

"this place matters" The building you are standing under is Bay City's Masonic Temple. The Masonic Temple was built in 1892 for $100,000. It was designed by local architects Pratt and Koeppe. The building is 3 stories and is made with red sandstone and at one time had a 114 foot campanile with an onion top that was described with giving the building a distinctive Moorish appearance. In 1903 the building was damaged by a fire that destroyed the campanile and the other onion tops. The interior was rebuilt into its current condition.

The building is currently owned by the Bay Arts council who run different programs, with the most popular being the Hell's Half Mile Film Fest and the Haunted Masonic Temple. More information can be found here: Haunted Masonic Temple and here: Hell's Half Mile Film Fest. Thank you to the Bay Arts Council for letting me hide this cache here.
