Geocache Description:

Welcome to my first Geocache, Located in the lovely semi-rural area of Bletchingley

Although this puzzle cache is located in Bletchingley – for the exact location you will have to solve the following mathematical and cipher based puzzle:

For puzzle there are 5 steps, with steps 1 to 3 requiring a awful amount of trial and error.

Step 1) – Cipher

The following are encrypted using the “-.- . -.-- . -.. / -.-. .- . ... .- .-.” Cipher, after decryption only letters A-J are allowed (Other letters appear = failed decryption)

For the North Coordinate first:  WVLULQSX            (Hint for key/phrase: Electronic component of a famous WW2 computer)

Now for the West Coordinate:  BGYPUOGG            (Hint for key/phrase: Part of a famous machine invented by Mr Scherbius)

After decryption: A=0  B=1  C=2  D=3  E=4  F=5  G=6  H=7  I=8  J=9

Step 2) Order of numbers

Now that you have two correct eight digit numbers (hopefully), you need to work out what rotational orders they need be in.          X number digits have been taken of the front or back and placed on the opposite end of each number. Eg. 12345678 > 34567812 (In the example the first 2 digits have been placed on back)

Now that you have rotated the order of the numbers, it’s time for step 3

Step 3) Another Cipher

Not a lot to say here, other than a lesser version of the “-.- . -.-- . -.. / -.-. .- . ... .- .-.”  cipher and instead of using letters, it uses numbers.

Step 4) Bracket Work

Now that you have the final eight digits, it’s time to do some simple maths – although you need to find out and answer the below questions first:

1)      Date (not month or year, e.g. 27) that “Church Micro 13...Bletchingley” cache was originally hidden
2)      Last 3 digits of parish council telephone number
3)      Ignoring decimal places, the five digits after “N 51°” of the final coordinate of G2B and Back 11 - Robber Button cache    (Cache ID: GC3DQVG)
4)      Bletchingley’s female PCSO ID Number
5)      A local Pub (on the side of the road into Oxted) in Bletchingley dates back to ????

X = North/West eight digit number (from previous step)      Y= last 4 digits to final coordinate     B= answer carried from part 1 to part 2

For the first number (North coordinate number)

Part 1:                       X - (4 * 5) = B           Part 2:           B  / (1 + (2 + 3)) = Y

Now for the second number (West coordinate number)

Part 1:                       X - (3 +(4 * 1)) = B  Part 2:           B / (5 + 2) = Y

Finally, you should have the final coordinates to the cache: N 51° 1?.??? W 000° 0?.???  , with “?” being the numbers you have worked out.

Step 5) The Location

Once at the final location, look for a "... -- .- .-.. .-.. / -... .-.. .- -.-. -.- / .-. --- ..- -. -.. / -.-. --- -. - .- .. -. . .-. .-.-.-" This is the final cache.

Final coordinates can be checked here

This Cache has placed with kind permiosn of the national trust
