A legend.
A Hero.
In the times of Ancient Rome a deep chasm opened up in the middle of Rome itself. The soothsayers of that time stated that the pit would never close unless a valuable possession was thrown in. The seers said that nothing is more precious and valuable than a brave heroic citizen. A man named Curtius stepped up to the plate. He jumped in, complete with armor and weaponry on his horse into the chasm.
Just as the soothsayers and seers predicted, the chasm immediatley closed, trapping Curtius inside. The spot where the chasm had closed, over time, was covered by a pond known as Lacus Curtius, which was dry after 530 years. Many think Curtius was just a legend, but what do you think?
