Geocache Description:

The cache on the trail to Glymur was our (Team TDK & asdishuld) first cache so we wanted to place it somewhere special. And what could be more special than on the way to the highest waterfall in Iceland!

We placed the cache down by the river Botnsá, about 2/3 the way from the parkingspot to the lookoutpoint over the waterfall. The trail to the cachesite is a bit rough in places but no hiking is involved but we do recommend walking boots!

From the parking spot, follow the trail towards the ravine. When you reach the edge you should see a large stone. To the right (south) of that stone you can find the small stairs that lead you down and through the cave to the bottom of the ravine. From there, keep following the trail as much as you can until your reach the cache site.
Please stay on trails as much as possible and mind the moss in the cache area. And remember: CITO! The cache contains a logbook and a pen.

After you have found the cache, you can cross the river using the log bridge and follow the trail up the the lookout point for a good view over the highest waterfall in Iceland. Be careful, the log used to cross the river is only in place during the summertime! If the log is not there, use common sense if you want to cross the river. It is also possible to hike up the hill west of the river.
