The walk will guide you along parts of the Bronte Way, crossing the Bronte Bridge and passing close to the Bronte Waterfalls. Top Withins, said to be the the setting for the farmstead Wuthering Heights, is also not far away and well worth a detour if you have not already visited. Another nearby landmark, but not on this route, is Ponden Kirk, the likely inspiration for Penistone Crags from the book Wuthering Heights. It is said that if " if a maid can struggle through the narrowish opening in the rocks, she will be married before the year is out; if not, she is like to go unwedded all her days." - this may be of interest to some cachers....;)
The walk offers some excellent views but please bear in mind that the weather can change here very quickly, so come prepared with good walking boots and appropriate clothing. Some of the paths can be very muddy and the path leading down to the Bronte Bridge in particular, can be very slippy when wet, so please take care.
All the caches have been hidden so they can be found easily - this series is all about the walk - so please replace caches very carefully. We have placed some good quality swaps in the caches, so please trade equally. Parking is available near this first cache and there are suitable establishments for refreshments in Stanbury, including one which advertises outside that they welcome muddy boots and four-legged friends.
There are clues for the bonus in some of the caches, so be sure you check for a laminate either under the lid or within the containers. We hope you enjoy your walk.
This is the first cache in the series, or you may, alternatively, wish to save it for your return.
