LINKING CENTRAL BROOKLYN WITH THE BATTERY TUNNEL: The Prospect Expressway, which links central Brooklyn with the I-278 and the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel (I-478), marks the beginning of the 120-mile-long Route 27. The six-lane limited-access route with flanking service roads runs parallel to Prospect Avenue, ending at Ocean Parkway (an at-grade surface boulevard) just southwest of Prospect Park. The route of NY 27 continues east through Brooklyn along Linden Boulevard.
Prospect Expressway is a short sunken highway that runs southeast through Park Slope and Windsor Terrace. Due to the space constraints of building in an already-urbanized area, the highway stretches a little over 2 miles (3.2 km) and has an inconsistent entrance-exit scheme.
This series includes parks, walkways, sitting areas, & playgrounds alongside or next to the expressway. I walk it all the time; biking is recommended. Between the hides; there will be inclines, as the neighborhood is hilly. Parking is hard to get quickly at certain cache locations.
