Geocache Description:


Geocaching is a sport that takes us into all types of terrains, and we go searching in all types of weather. Usually the geocaching team arrive home safe and sound, although sometimes a little worse for wear, with the occasional cut or bruise, or broken rib. Very occasionally though, this is not the case and we need a little more help to find our way home. This series looks at those people who help those who are lost or hurt, and need help in getting back to where they want to be. Hopefully you will never need to experience the reality of this help first hand.

Coastguard New Zealand
The Royal New Zealand Coastguard Inc (Coastguard NZ) is a not-for-profit organisation. They are the charity that saves lives at sea and are the primary provider of search and rescue services to New Zealand boaties.
They have 69 operational units strategically placed along New Zealand's coastline and major lakes. They are manned by highly trained professional volunteers who dedicate their time to saving lives. Coastguard Units consist of vessel crew, air patrols and communications volunteers which are there to help 24 hours a day, 365 days every year.
