Geocache Description:


Geocaching is a sport that takes us into all types of terrains, and we go searching in all types of weather. Usually the geocaching team arrive home safe and sound, although sometimes a little worse for wear, with the occasional cut or bruise, or broken rib. Very occasionally though, this is not the case and we need a little more help to find our way home. This series looks at those people who help those who are lost or hurt, and need help in getting back to where they want to be. Hopefully you will never need to experience the reality of this help first hand.

NZ Defence Force
The NZ Defence Force was heavily involved helping Cantanbrians following the major earthquakes that happened in the past few years. They helped rescue people, fed, housed and transported victims and rescuers alike. They had the people, communications and the equipment to be a major part of the rescue and recovery efforts that were undertaken during that time. They also patrolled the red zone, keeping people and property safe. The NZDF can also be called upon by the NZ Police when they are needed, to help with any search and rescue operation.
