Geocache Description:

Cache is a lockable container with a good amount of room for trackables. Good for new cachers. See waypoints for parking and entrance. Picnic tables are also nearby. Lots of mosquitoes in the summer, so bring some DEET with you. CITO please! Night caching and casual biking not recommended due to large gravel and uneven terrain.

This trail follows the eponymous Steele Creek in southwest Charlotte for about three-quarters of a mile. It is intended to be part of a larger community greenway that has been on hold for some time. I stumbled upon this stretch while exploring the field in front of it, and later found out that my co-discoverer grew up nearby and remembers walking it as a kid.

The industrial company BASF is fenced-in on one side of the trail, and an older neighborhood (for the area anyway) is across the creek on the other side. Both are never quite out of sight, so you're never "sequestered" in the woods. But the trail is still something out of the way and unusual. And worth checking out to find this cacher's first hide!
