One of the many magnificent caves in the Augusta Margaret River Shire, Jewel Cave is the biggest show cave in Western Australia, with four massive chambers. It is also home to one of the longest straw stalactites found in any tourist cave in the world.
Entering Jewel Cave is a surreal experience like no other. Jewel Cave is an underground wonderland - be stunned by the dazzling visual display of nature at its finest and most meticulous work. Admire creations that have taken thousands and thousands of years to mould while meandering beneath the surface with one winding intricate masterpiece of mother nature after another. The stalactites and straws have to be seen to be believed stretching, suspended and hanging across the ceiling like vines and dancing cobwebs.
Let your imagination run wild with waves, candle wax, coral, forests, vegetables, jellyfish and everything in between to be seen in the calcium sculptures. This recently discovered wilderness with its intricate decorations and sheer magnitude is home to one of the longest straw stalactites to be found in any tourist cave. Your awe-inspiring crystal journey is perfectly complemented with the Karri Walk at the end of your visit.
In 2011, Jewel Cave was awarded a gold medal in the "Tourist Attractions" category at the WA Tourism Awards, as well as a silver in the Eco Tourism Category. Jewel Cave is also home to the spectacular new Jewel Cave Preservation Centre which features retail and cafe facilities complete with an interpretive area that will take visitors on an educational, visual and inspiring fifty-year journey.
