He sent out on a trip to the southern tribes to get them to join him against the whites who were settling in the Indiana area-- they were so reluctant that he told them he was returning to Detroit, and when he arrived there he would stomp his feet and the earth would shake--they calculated the timing of his arrival--and that was the exact timing of the New Madrid earthquake--you can be assured that they were impressed and began to support his efforts against the new white settlers.
