20/10/12 - Fellow cachers, please note, that due to a severe injury, I will not be able to attend any of my caches for the rest of the year. So, I ask you to take extra care (as I'm sure you will), to ensure as much as possible that the cache is kept going. Thank you so much for your help. HWJ
Oh to return to this place!
T'is always a delight and more than a pleasure!
The cache is located at the northern perimeter of St Bartholomew's Church. NOT in the church grounds and NOT on/in the nearby Woodland Trust plantation.
It is very close to the hard base public path that skirts the church boundary.
It is also close to one of the most idiosyncratic gates I know. A gate of distinctive character and one that could knock you off your feet - if you're not careful. It's positively vicious.
Of course it is close to the stunning St Bartholomew's Church. What more do you want?
However - there is another reason for this placement.
It celebrates a wonderful Grandfather Cache and its 10th Anniversary.
GC79CD - Chosen Hill - placed on 8th March 2002 by Mark "The Cat" Thompson, founder of geocacheuk.com who passed away on 12th September 2004. This is also dedicated to his memory and to a wonderful cache. The first we ever seriously attempted in September 2009.
Struggling with a quirky old Magellan GPS, our first attempt failed. A few weeks with a brand new GPS we hit pay dirt.
We felt elated and since that time the cache has been special.
So - this is my little tribute to the cache and its creator.
All credit to The JJ Noodle Fan Club for keeping the Chosen Hill cache going!
(Grandfather caches are not quite so common and it is good to see survivors. I am fortunate enough to be a caretaker for one which will soon see its 10th Birthday!)
