My brother and I decided to try and hide a cache of our own. But we wanted something that would pass on a memory of the family and area around it. We added a memorial key chain that was hand carved from one of grandpas horns and was giving to all the children and grandchildren for christmas after he died. We thought having this keychain travel around the country would be kinda cool and we could say a part of grandpa had traveled to the places.
I got the idea to do this cache in memory of our Grandfather, Louis. Born in 1902, He built his own home here in 1962. And it became the gathering place of family and friends for generations. He Lived off this land, respected the wildlife yet knew the “circle of life” as well. He fed the deer in these fields around you every morning and every evening all year long, but he was a hunter come winter time. He knew he had to put food on the table. Grandpa past away in 1999.
He collected, marked and displayed every set of horns he acquired. Lining his garage walls no matter how big or small and each had its own story. He loved hearing others hunter's stories just as much as he loved telling his. Included in this cache is a trackable. A key chain made from one of the horns he collected. Everyone in the family has one of these key chains as well. So take this one. Take it wherever and take pictures(maybe even a story) of it with your prize set of horns.
This cache will be small and simple but worth the effort.
