ARCHIVING CACHE

As there's been no cache to find for a while, I'm archiving your cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the very near
future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks a MILLION, Glenn

Geocache Description:

This is a pleasant .21 mile walk up a Clay County Park Smithville Lake Trail to Ellie's Trail, which heads East toward the lake shore.  Ellie's Trail is on undeveloped Clay County Parkland and is mildly challenging, and if followed to its completion leads to the Lake shore, with many ancient tree stumps pushing up out of the lake.

Ellie's Cache is hidden along Ellie's Trail, a small trail discovered by Ellie that branches off from gravel covered Smithville Lake Trail. This cache is probably best done in the fall, winter, and early spring, although it does not appear to be terribly overgrown in summer. If you're doing this in late spring or summer wear socks and check for ticks afterward.  From the intersection of 92 Hwy. and 169 Hwy., head East on 92 Hwy. Mount Olivet Road. Take a left, heading north on Mount Olivet.  Where Mount Olivet curves to become 156th St. park in the small gravel lot that belongs to the city of Smithville. Walk down around the curve of 156th to encounter the Smithville Lake Trailhead. From the point of the trailhead, you'll head .21 miles north to N 39.378782 W 94. 539165. You should be in front of the trailhead for Ellie's Trail, which is on the east side of the trail.  Follow Ellie's Trail to the cache.  The hint may help.  Ellie has placed many of her treasures in this cache, and there is a small log to sign.
