We decided to do a series around the 'Bonk'.
It's a circular walk, steep in places and can get muddy!
There are several covered benches around the route, and between Caches 5 and 6 there is a play park (also with a bench), for the Geo-kids.
NB: There are a couple of ponds on the 'Bonk', so Please keep an eye on your Geo-kids.
Stealth is required.
PLEASE NOTE - Do Not park on the business park - you are likely to be clamped.
Close to the cache is a memorial stone, which marks the former entrance to Golborne Parkside Colliery.
Following the road through the business park will bring you to 'The Bonk', jump to your own conclusions about the name at your peril! The name derives from dialect meaning ''bank' as in railway embankment.
Another point of interest, a couple of hundred yards down the road (towards the A580), is Peter Kane Square - named after a former boxer and local hero, who was World Flyweight Champion 1938 - 1943.
