A short lunchtime wander in the bush along a creek with some views thrown in at GZ. You have the choice of calculating GZ from information at WP1, or following my instructions to try and get there without using your GPS!
At the start coordinates is a sign post with an upper and lower sign.
a = Letters in first word of the lower sign
b = Number of words on the lower sign
c = Number of words on 1 side of the upper sign
d = Letters in second word on upper sign divided by 2
Calculate GZ as S35 16.abb E149 09.cdc
OR
Read the description below and try to find it without using your GPS!
WP1 : The Sign post
Look across the fire trail in front of you and slightly to the left. You will see a minor track (not a firetrail!). Follow this track and stay on the right side of the deep creek
WP2 : Power line crossing
Cross the track that runs beneath the power line and continue on the right side of the creek for another 50 metres.
WP3: Descent
Here you will see an obvious angled track heading down to the creek. Watch your footing - it's steep! Climb the bank to the other (left) side of the creek and continue to follow along the bank on this side
WP4: Creek Junction
Here the creek splits in two. Cross the left hand branch of the creek (there is a faint track) and then follow the left side of the right branch of the creek.
WP5: Fallen Tree
The creek divides again here into minor branches. Stay to the left of all the creeks and ascend! After a short while you will see some small rounded boulders further up the hill near some small casuarinas. Head for this spot.
WP6: Small Boulders
From here, walk up the rock platform to an alcove with a partially raised rock sitting alone on the platform. Guess where the cache is?
Please replace small rock to cover cache again and make sure it cannot be seen.
Not far above this point is the main Mt Ainslie walking track. This will provide for an easier descent.
