This cache is one in a short series on Tinkers Hill, on the lower slopes of Chosen Hill. This meadow is popular with dog walkers and sledgers. The fields sometimes have cows grazing, but they have never caused a problem when I've walked past with the geoterrier on his lead. They see a lot of dog walkers so must be used to them.
Tinker’s Hill (formerly Rabbits’ Hill) is a North Westerly offshoot of the larger Chosen Hill, an outlier to the Jurassic Limestone escarpment which lies some 2 km to the east. The Churchdown Golf Course, which existed up to the outbreak of the First World War, was on the lower slopes above the railway line and the Clubhouse was off Pirton lane, close to Sugarloaf Bridge. In late spring the meadow is full of buttercups.
This short series can be started at the stile close to Sugarloaf Bridge on Pirton Lane. There is no parking here but there is a free public car park near to St Andrews Church on Station Road a few minutes walk away. The 98 bus stops on Pirton Lane close to this waypoint. There is also a public car park at the top of Chosen Hill from which you could also walk down to Tinker's Hill. You could also park near the Recreation Ground at John Daniels Way.
The cache is hidden at a big tree next to a small stream a little way off the main path. GZ may get muddy at times. You are looking for a sample container similar in width to a 35mm film cartidge but longer. Please replace carefully exactly as found using the camo. Don't want it to be muggled by the cows!!
