Geocache Description:

After a year's hiatus, the Tri-State Geocachers are proud and happy to invite you to join us for our third edition of our very popular Tri-State Trick-or-Treat. We'll be holding the event on October 27 at 10am until about 12 - 12:30 at beautiful Stokes State Forest. With its many miles of varied hiking trails and fantastic views, this is an thoroughly enjoyable place to spend an entire day, if you like. There is a range of interesting geology and stunning forest views along with abundant wildlife.

We'll gather at the picnic area at the posted coordinates, rain or shine, and the event will begin at 10am sharp - please plan on arriving early. It's strongly recommended (but not required) that you come in costume. You should also provide your own trick-or-treat bag. We’ll do photo shoots and a group photo and then start the day’s activity. You’ll receive coordinates for a set of temporary caches, many with easy terrain and some with more challenging terrain. The caches represent your trick-or-treat destinations: each one is filled with a certain treat, so you'll be using your Halloween bags to gather your stash. A few of them will have a little surprise involved too. Caching with dogs? They're welcome to trick-or-treat right along with you!

COSTUME CONTEST
PRIZES AWARDED FOR:

BEST GEO-NAME THEMED
BEST GROUP
BEST KIDS COSTUME
BEST OF THE REST

At the end of the designated time, we’ll meet at coordinates you’ll be given and sign the event log. You may wish to pack a picnic lunch, especially if the weather is good, because this is a terrific area for picnicking and relaxing with friends. Beside the new event caches to be released, Stokes State Forest and its surrounding area is full of geocaching opportunities to satisfy almost any geocacher.

Are you new to geocaching or geo-events, or have a friend who is thinking of trying out geocaching? This is an excellent time to come out, as there will be plenty of opportunity to interact with other cachers while finding caches around a great park.
