How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A walk up the North side of South Brother will get you to the cache. BUT, the Challenge objective is to get the code inside, and be able to include in your FOUND log, ONE cache each for TEN consecutive 10km distance bands from your ‘Home’, the Date Found, and the cache’s DxT Difficulty Matrix.

There is fine print.
1/ Only caches found in Geocaching.com, are to be included.

2/ Caches logged for this cache MUST have been found within a SIX MONTH time frame (any six months)! (See 101, 3/)

2/a) This Subject may be completed independently if required of South Bro Certified Challenge. So while the time frame would not apply you would still need to submit TEN caches for each of the 10km zones from your home.

3/ Caches submitted for this cache cannot be used for other “South Bro …” Unknown caches.

3/a Only ONE cache Found on South Brother can be used and submitted for this subject; yes, it could be this one.

4/ The cache you have placed, closest to your home, is to be used as the reference point, and stated in your log.

4/a Exception. If you haven’t placed a cache you may select and name a feature close to your home.

5/ If you have completed a Schoolies Challenge, Moneydork's GC3HXV7, for example, you would be exempt from having to list the qualifying caches from two subjects of your choice.

Difficulty Matrix = cache Difficulty x cache Terrain. That is, a cache rated 1/1 = 1, rated 2/2½ = 5, and a cache rated 5/5 =25.

When you have found this cache and are logging it, to verify that you qualify for this Challenge, you MUST include: the reference cache code for the closest cache to your home YOU have PLACED; Distance (in kilometres from the closest cache you have placed to your home) in 10km increments (see example), the TEN GCxxxxx numbers, Date Found and Difficulty ‘matrix’. A TOTAL for the TEN caches would be handy, but not essential. Even if not completed at the time of finding the container please include what you have got, as a Note.

You may want to complete the 'Sudoku' puzzle below before attempting South Bro 105, although there will be copies of this sudoku there, and you may get some hints to check your working on the way. The codes on the stash sheets relate to this sudoku.

Please Note: completing this Challenge cache is a pre-requisite for earning your “South Bro Certified” Challenge Certificate.

Personal example below:
Closest placed cache – GC161E3, Andrews Reserve’d a Dance for Me
0 – 10km GC2XV11 Endeavour, Endeavour & Endeavour 4/3/12 3½x3½= 12.25
11 – 20km GC353DH Diamond Views forever 24/3/12 1x2= 2
21 – 30km GC2FZH5 Wallflowers Wallflowers Growing Up so High 24/4/12 4x1.5= 6
31 – 40km GC2NFGY Annie Leibovitz 25/4/12 2x2= 4
41 – 50km GC2MF62 Bucketts Scenic Walk 14/4/12 3x4= 12
51 – 60km GC27G9V Under the shadows 10/5/12 3½x4= 14
61 – 70km GC2ZKQH Stand and Deliver 25/4/12 2½x3½= 8.75
71 – 80km GC30V5H A Tuppence Worth 12/5/12 2½x4= 10
81 – 90km GC283E #29 Great Southern Land: (3) Yacaaba 15/5/12 2½x3½= 8.75
91 – 100km GC2KKXN The Devils Chair 4/8/12 3x3½=10.5

TOTAL Difficulty: 88.25
So, while I had found some caches with a higher DxT matrix they fell outside of the Six months period I selected, so aren't included.
