The Ord is well known as a formidable pass between Caithness and Sutherland and is situated at the eastern boundary of the two counties. The term Ord is either from the Gaelic “ard” or the Icelandic “urd” both of which signify a steep hill. No matter the weather, it always seems to change when you pass E Ord.
