Geocache Description:

The Cache IS located at the posted coordinates but this is a CHALLENGE CACHE, so there is a logging requirement that must be met before you can find and log this cache.

Since the Continental Congress first gathered to create our beloved Constitution and Bill of Rights, there have been 44 presidencies (held by 43 individuals). Love them or hate them, agree with them or disagree with them, our Presidents have lead our nation through our short and notable history. As time passed and geographical lines were drawn across the land, many of our Presidents were honored by having their names associated with various areas. Some of these areas were states, cities, counties, even forests and mountains.

This challenge is to recognize those Presidents and the influence they've had in our geocaching lives. We've done the County Challenge. Now let's do the Presidential County Challenge. This challenge is to find and log 12 (TWELVE, that's just over a third) counties that have names associated with the LAST NAME of a President.

There have been 44 presidencies. 34 Presidents have counties named after them.. or at least there's a county named after the likeness of a President's last name. Minnesota alone can account for six of your required counties.

Here are the rules:

1. You must find and properly log a geocache in 12 (TWELVE) unique counties that are named after 12 unique Presidents of the United States, past or present. Any COUNTY-LIKE form of government counts as a county; Louisiana parishes and Alaskan boroughs.

2. You can only use a President's name once, except in those cases where different Presidents share the same last name (Adams, Johnson, Roosevelt, etc). Each of those instances must be represented by it's own merit. You can not use the same COUNTY for both Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson but you can list two distinct Johnson Counties.

3. The only naming requirement is that the county name must match the last name of a President, even if the county is not technically named after that President. For example, if Hoover County was officially named after the vacuum cleaner company and not Herbert Hoover, you can count it.

4. If a President does not have a county named after it, I will accept a city named after the President if you can prove that the city is a viable and functional city as defined by DeLorme (or some other atlas of note) and has a current population of 1000 or greater residents.

5. Only physical, virtual, and earthcaches are allowed. No other cache types are not allowed (events and locationless).

6. All previous finds do count.

7. You MUST prove that you've fulfilled you requirement by listing them in your log or by picture attachment.

8. While I can't control when you sign the physical log, you must meet the requirement before logging the find online.

9. FIRST TO FIND (if you play the side game) is awarded to the first person to MEET THE REQUIREMENT, SIGN THE PHYSICAL LOG, AND LOG THE FIND ONLINE.

Have fun and remember, it IS about the numbers, in some fashion or another.
