Interested in hearing about the circumstances leading to your finding this cache. Eg were you on a journey via the station or just out caching in the area?
Reedham Station, opened as Reedham Halt on 1 March 1911, was named after the Reedham Asylum for Fatherless Children, founded by philanthropist Dr Andrew Reed in 1844. The impressive Victorian buildings were located about 300 metres from the station. The asylum was renamed Reedham Orphanage in 1904 and Reedham School in 1950. It closed in 1979, and unfortunately the Victorian buildings were demolished in the 80's and new houses were built on the site. However, the trust which ran it still occupies the original lodge (gatehouse) of the estate, which is located round the corner from the station in Old Lodge lane.
13/9/12 Thanks and well done Haggis 87 FTF after only 6 hours of placing!
