 Ranklin Lake Park


After an extensive $3.2 million dollar renovation this once abandoned, broken down park is now a wonderful place to visit. Two new very large piers to fish off of,  an observation deck off of a brand new set of large covered shelters. There are six more large shelters and a big playground for the little ones, disc golf and a greenway all the way around the lake that is bike and doggie friendly. They have canoes, john boats, kayaks and pedal boats for rent, all at a really reasonable price. Fishing costs $2 for city residents, $1 for kids and seniors, $3 for non-city residents and $2 for non-city kids and seniors. We were there today and loved it. Lots of large carp popping up, waiting to be caught, lots of small fish to delight the little fishermen as well. They sell worms for $3 in the building  next to the lake (convienent for those of us who always forget to buy bait) and the staff there are very friendly and helpful. As of right now you cannot put your own kayak or canoe in or fish off of the bank but they are looking into letting people do both in the future. The park is closed from December - February and has limited hours in March and October- November. All in all, great addition to the parks in Gaston County and we will be going back a lot in the future.  CONGRATULATIONS to Crescent Trekkers for FTF
