Geocache Description:

Hear ye, hear ye! Be it known that on this day, the fifteenth day of the month of December, ten years ago in the year of our NavStar, was held on this very ground, the first geocaching event of many to come.

Come one, come all to this milestone celebration of the very first geocaching event in the sunshine state, QLD geocachers Christmas picnic 2002. Meet some other cachers from around the area and also those that were there in those fateful, early days. We shall get together to celebrate both Christmas and a full decade of geocaching get togethers in Queensland.

We will meet at 10:00, 15 December 2012 for lunch and a chat. There may be an FTF and other goodies draw, so make sure to grab a ticket from me as you arrive. This will just be a casual event. Please also, any newcomers to the sport feel more than welcome to come along, put faces to names and ask any questions you may have.

There are only wood barbecues in Alexander Clark Park, but I'll provide a gas BBQ for all to use, so come armed with a few snags for lunch, your Santa hat/reindeer ears and soak up the social atmosphere. There are toilets and drinking water available and plenty of playground equipment/open areas for the childs and the childish to burn off some energy. The walking tracks around the area are most enjoyable and there are a few pontoons out into the river. If you have a table and/or chairs, please bring them as the benches there are limited.

I can confirm if you are traveling via the Pacific Motorway, then take the Logan Motorway, then the Drews Rd Exit, you won't have to pay any tolls.

The co-ords are for near the front gate (the same as the original listing), there will be signs to direct you on the day to where we will be camped (I'll be there early to set-up). At the Related Web Page above, you can view the first event and admire it's glory and history. All those who attended that event have been officially invited to this one and hopefully we can recreate the same photo, all plus 10 years.

I've also found that the day of that event a physical cache was hidden by the attendees in the same park. Queensland GeoPic1
