A Picnic for the International EarthCache Day Event Cache

Haggis Hunter: I think it's time to put this to bed so that it doesn't show up on people's searches.
Thanks again to everyone who came.

Geocache Description:

The 14th October is going to be International Earthcache Day. GSA Earthcache would like events to promote this day, so I thought why not have a picnic on Arthur's Seat, the most liked Earthcache in the UK.

The date is obviously going to be Sunday the 14th October, and the time to be at the top is 1pm.

Bring a packed lunch and wet weather gear, as the event will go ahead regardless of the weather. In fact expect it to be cold and windy!  In the event of foul weather the event will finish at 1:30pm. We'll also be looking at doing a group photo for about 1:15pm. So if you wish to attend please be here between these times.

Here is a link which opens a pdf map of the roads around Holyrood.

You will only be able to access by car via the Scottish parliament and the Meadowbank entrances. St. Leonard's/Commonwealth Pool and Duddingston entrances are both closed. To reach the parking co-ords take the one way road at St. Margaret's Loch.

The Royal Park of Holyrood, has quite a few caches within it, including several Earthcaches. So the location is fitting for the day and of course you should be able to spend most of the day here.

As this event is about earthcaches, I shall try my best to tell you about the geology of the local area.

Others caches which you can log whilst here are - Arthur's Seat Earthcache & Ye Ole Survey Monuments, which is a moving virtual that can be logged for any location which it has previously visited, Arthur's seat Trigpoint being a previous location. This can also be logged more than once.

So that's about it, hopefully I'll see you there.
