Turbinen
EB, som er indirekte kontrollert av Buskerud Fylkeskommune, lanserte ideen i 2002. Med utgangspunktet i en vannkraftturbin, ville konsernet gi et kunstverk til innbyggerne langs Drammenselva. En installasjon som skulle markere både nåtid og fortid. En endelig skisse ble presentert våren 2006, og selve arbeidet med "Turbinen" har pågått fra august 2007 og fram til januar 2008.
Vannkraft og papirindustri
Kunstneren bak hele stasen er Hans Martin Øien fra Drammen. Installasjonen har mange elementer, og er omkranset av "kanaler" i rød granitt med en parkmessig omramming. Midtpunktet er vannkraftturbinen. En francisturbin levert av J.M. Voith i Tyskland, som ble installert i Kaggefoss kraftstasjon på Modum i 1956. Den ble avløst av en mer effektiv turbin i 1996. Siden har den ventet på å bli kunst. De to omkringliggende elementene symboliserer biter av et tannhjul fra treforedlingsindustrien. Det ble funnet en tremodell for et slikt hjul i en av papirfabrikkene på Grønland, og denne modellen ble tatt i bruk av kunstneren.
"Turbinen" har kostet i underkant av to millioner kroner. Selve stålturbinen regnes ikke med i kostnaden, siden denne er avskrevet for lenge siden.

Turbine
EB, which is indirectly controlled by Buskerud County Council, introduced the idea in 2002. On the basis of a hydroelectric turbine, the group would give a piece of art to the residents along the river. An installation that would mark both present and past. A final draft was presented in spring 2006, and the work of "turbine" has been going on from August 2007 to January 2008.
Hydropower and paper
The artist behind the whole contraption is Hans Martin Øien from Drammen. The installation has many elements, and is surrounded by "channels" in red granite with a park-like surrounds. The centerpiece is hydropower turbine. A Francis turbine delivered by J.M. Voith in Germany, which was installed in Kagge power station at Modum in 1956. It was replaced by a more efficient turbine in 1996. Since then it waited to be art. The two surrounding elements symbolize pieces of a gear from the pulp and paper industry. It was found a wooden model of such a wheel in one of the paper mills in Grønland, and this model was used by the artist.
"Turbine" has cost just under two million. The steel turbine is not included in the cost, as this is written off long ago.
