Geocache Description:

Brief History

After the Ski Club moved from Sawyer's Hill to Pajarito Mountain in 1957, the 50 acre “Sawyer Hill Recreation Area” reverted to nature.

In April 1966, the plat was re-designated as “Sawyer Hill Subdivision”.

In June 1967, the subdivision was purchased by the “Sangre de Cristo Girl Scout Council, Inc." The local Girl Scout Chapter used the area for their day camp. They would pitch their tents and spend the day.

In November 1980, the Girl Scout Council sold the property and over the next two decades had several different owners.

Finally, in May 2002, Paul and Mary Jo Parker “in consideration of an exchange of certain National Forest land” conveyed the property to the USDA Forest Service. It is now part of the Santa Fe National Forest.

The Cache

The cache is a Pelican “Official Geocache” container. It shouldn’t be hard to find, except when snow is on the ground.

This could be a “Park & Grab” if you have a high clearance vehicle (a very, very high clearance). See pictures.

Even after extensive research, the purpose of the green cabin near the cache is unknown.
Any factual information on this structure will be greatly appreciated.
