Wait Until Dark Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

WVKiwi: Thanks to all who attended this one! It was a fun event to plan, and I especially enjoyed the chance to beta test a few night caching ideas as well. Since there's still a few ideas around that didn't get implemented in this one, maybe I'll have to consider hosting another one next year, but for now, it's time to lay this particular event to rest.

Bidding ado and archiving...

Geocache Description:

Enjoy hunting for hidden treasure in the great outdoors? Of course we do! However…

Wait Until Dark

The caching that is fun during the day can take on a whole other dimension at night. Head out on a night caching adventure by flashlight or headlamp and you almost certainly will hear others talking of it as "Great fun!" "Spookier!" "Awesome" "Dark & exciting!" "Adventurous!" "Must do!" -- and that's just a few of the words frequently used in nighttime caching logs.

So once the sun sets and all begins to become dark on October 6, come join us for a gathering at Widmeyer Park in Hancock, MD.

Who: You! Whether you have one find or thousands, are from MD, VA, WV or beyond, enjoy the dark or are a bit scared by it, everyone is welcome!

When: Saturday, October 6 from 6:50 to 7:50 p.m.

Where: Widmeyer Park, Hancock, MD

Why: To enjoy good geotalk with good geofriends, and of course, learn about the fun awaiting you if you wait until dark to cache! :)

The plan is to meet at the posted coordinates at dusk. For those who have had experiences caching in the dark of night, come and bring your best night caching story. For those who haven't been brave enough to try the adventure yet, come and we'll give you some tips for tackling the unique challenge of finding caches by flashlight! We'll socialize, share tales and great night cache recommendations, and perhaps even have a little fun seeking some unique challenges set up nearby.

Afterwards, those interested may head out for some nighttime caching. There's several night caches in nearby Sleepy Creek WMA in WV (approx. 40 minutes away) and, who knows, there might be other nearby fun caches to challenge yourself with as well.

Of course, don't forget to bring a flashlight or headlamp! Come prepared for the weather too (could be chilly). And beyond that? Well, wait until dark and then enjoy the fun that awaits!
