Geocache Description:

One of a series of Caches in Laurel Hollow Park.  Park is open Dawn to Dusk. SMILE! Park is under surveillance. Enjoy the park.

Seeking 1/2 gallon cylinder. Easy Trail, THEN : Past Ruins of something on the trail below the GZ.  Just upstream, small trails lead back up hill toward a trashy GZ.
Cache is clearly marked.

Welcome to Laurel Hollow Park. Laurel Hollow has always been an enchanting place. This is part of a series of Geocaches throughout the park. See western Entrance for informational kiosk containing alot of historical photos & information.
This Trail to GZ is straight from a storybook, until your near GZ. GZ is a perfect BAD example of how litter can add up to quite a mess. This park boundary area shows quite a contrast from the picturesque trail below! A great opportunity to do a little CITO. Our contributions will make an impact over time!
At the turn of the century, Laurel Hollow was re-born from just a park, into a Zoo that was quickly abandoned in 1912 and left untouched for almost 100 years. Once complete with seals, monkeys, raccoons, squirrels, deer, geese, swans, ducks, alligators, and polar bears -to mention a few. A variety of seemingly ancient towering trees abound with vines climbing vines, fighting for the forest canopy. Quite a few 100+ year old park structures/remnants remain. Wildlife is extremely abundant throughout the park in great variety. The park trails have always seemed to attract pairs of lovers of all ages. The lower Laurel trail is a storybook stroll that you'll want to share with others.

A visit to www.laurelhollowpark.net will greatly enhance your visit to the park. The website has a vast collection of well organized photos and information of the park and nearby local history. The park contains a few miles of well marked and often scenic trails. Picnic tables and grills are available. Responsible Dog walking on leash is welcome.

Thank you to the Newell Community Improvemet Coalition (NCIC)for supporting the placement of a series of caches within this park. Since 2008, the NCIC has leased the park from gracious Homer Laughlin China Co. for community use. The NCIC continues to do an amazingly balanced job of restoring this park, that now, hosts community events & Once again, is quickly becoming the pride of the community.
You will/might find: Circular Flower Garden, The Bears Den Ampitheater, The Squirrell Cottage, The Laurel Spring(s 4?), The Stone Bridges & Brick Tunnels amongst others, if you look hard enough. Just trying to locate and mentally visualize the original park contents is a geo-game of it's own!

***No Caches are hidden in the Circular Flower Garden or the Bears Den!

A few caches in the park contain CITO supplies. Please grab a bag!

>>Unfortunately, this hide is near alot of trash(near the road). Trash is distracting to me while caching, and there is some glass here. Be Careful! Photobucket LHP Trail Map
