明治時代、田んぼや水路・通路があったところに

鉄道を横断させたので、水路や通路が分断されました。

そこで、マンポ（正確には鉄道の橋）を造って

これまで通りに通れるようにしたというわけです。
旧東海道本線は、

ねじりまんぼの宝庫と言われています。
