Part five of six caches plus a bonus cache that is a circular walk out of Penrith through the countryside and back to the starting area again.
Actual walking time without stops is around 45 minutes 3 miles in total.
Parking is advised at N 54° 40.062 W 002° 46.093 which can be found along Bowerbank Way, Gilwilly Industrial Estate. This is a regular used spot for dog walkers. This is an ideal point as the walk will bring you back towards this point if you complete the circular walk.
It is possible to get to GZ by car if you decide to do this cache on it's own. Do not try and get the cache from the roadside as you will need to stop at a pullin further down the road and walk up the proper pathway.
This is a circular walk that I regulalry take during my lunch break where you will go through the local nature reserve Thacka Beck located next to the parking point. Going out the otherside of the reserve you join Thacka Lane near to the railway line. A short walk up the lane takes you past "Penrith Countryside Walk 1" where another 10 minute walk and you pass "Penrith Countryside Walk 2", under the motorway and another few minutes to pass "Penrith Countryside Walk 3", up the road another five minutes to pass "Penrith Countryside Walk 4" going through the university grounds (this is a national cycle route) out on to the main road where there is a dedicated footpath set back from the road. When no cars go along you could quite easily forget the road is there.
I'm sure you will soon realise why I have chosen the route as you soon leave Penrith an enjoys the views of the local contryside. At points on the walk you would forget that you are so close to a large town.
The cache container is a small snap lock box. Inside there is the usual Log (writing implement required). On placement of the cache there was a small plastic frog, Puzzle and rubber football. Not much space so only small items. Since been replaced with a container to that like on part one, just has a little twist to it, so no space for items inside.
Note: I have taken care in the placement of this cache so that it should be retrieved from the path without trampling down all the local vegetation. It is just out of site but quite easily visible with moving some of the vegetation. You do not need to move any rocks or bricks.
On the log you will also find a couple of letters with numbers that will be required for a later bonus cache.
