Geocache Description:

A Letterbox Hybrid Geocache with a stamp inside: The stamp is to use if you keep your own letterbox log. Otherwise, just sign the log like a normal geocache.

Please avoid logging only acronyms such as TFTC. Geocaching celebrates the adventure of the hunt; tell us about your experience.

DESCRIPTION: From the French 'boucaner,' to Smoke Meat (la viande). Here in the rural south, where refrigeration was a luxury only the very few could afford, smoking meat to preserve it was very common among our Anglo, Scotch-Irish, and French peoples. If you listen to the flavor of history on the air, you may hear it here.

LETTERBOX-STYLE CLUES: From Alexandria, take Louisiana Highway 28 East through Pineville and Park at the mini storage facility that shares the same name as a style of battery. Find and face the number 17, turn right and walk due southeast through a corridor of orange doors, then turn left at the end. Proceed across the next lawn under the trees in the direction of a church steeple. Do not cross the road. Before the end of a driveway you will see a pile of wooden pallet material near a crepe myrtle and twin meter poles on your left. Look for a place that birds would enjoy.

NOTE: This letterbox hybrid geocache was placed here by permission of the landowner. If you see him be sure to thank him for supporting geocaching in our area. Leave cache closed back well as you found it.
