Geocache Description:

This is a  small magnetic cache containing a log only. Please bring a pen/cil
Please replace cache exactly where you found it.
I am placing this cache to celebrate my 60th birthday. (25 Sept 2012)

This bridge is a replacement in about 2000!!. This is short tom as it is about 20mtrs shorter than the old one.(if you walk to the far end, you can see where the old one ended)
The bridge was built for the railway men to get to work in Toton Sidings and nicknamed “Long Tom”.(don’t know why)
Behind you is the old rail overbridge serving the hump into the west yard. It was very busy when I was a lad in the 1960’s  and many an hour was (mis)spent trainspotting. I used to run up and down over the many tracks to see if I could lean over and get a face full of smoke. The bridge was of the open lattice type , not like this modern boarded monstrosity  we have now(we didn’t throw things at trains).
Did you notice the air raid shelter? If not, as you walk back towards Long Eaton, look on your right opposite the concrete lamp post.
If you feel like finding anything else about this area, there are many photos on the internet to browse.
