Geocache Description:

Cache on the Yealm Estuary within an easy walk from the village of Brixton.

Important! This cache is only accessible when the state of the tide is below 4m height at the Yealm entrance. Tide tables are here (remember tide tables are in GMT so add one hour in BST). If you don't want the complexity of having to work out the height of the tide then simply note that the cache is always available for three hours before and three hours after low tide.

Getting to the cache requires a short walk across firmish mud. Walking boots or wellies (or bare feet in the summer!) are recommended, but if you are wearing other footwear you won't get wet... just muddy. You need to approach along the edge of the estuary on the mud by following the little stream at the end of the lane.

You can park up in the village in Winstone Lane (plenty of parking) and walk down the road/track or you can drive down. If you drive down be aware that the road is very narrow, in poor condition and in the winter larger cars can get stuck on the steep hill near the end of the lane.

Please ensure the cache is replaced as found so as to prevent it being washed away on very big tides.

The cache is a 1.4L plastic container. Plenty of room for trinkets, etc.

After finding the cache you can follow the nearby footpath to the estuary proper, one of the most unspoilt locations on the whole of the South Coast of England.
