This is an easy, multi-cache that you will only be able to locate in the dark. It was placed with permission from the New Westminster Parks Dept. You may notice a sign indicating the park is closed at night; the Parks Dept. assured me that this is not the case and the sign is merely there as a tool for police to use when dealing with loitering teens.
Make sure you have a good flashlight and sturdy shoes. You will not be walking on any designated paths, however, there is no dense bushwacking involved. You will be walking through the trees on uneven ground so please use caution. Drive into Queen's Park and follow the roadway to within meters of GZ; there is parking along the roadside there. You will see a picnic table at GZ - this is your starting point.
How this cache hunt works: you must locate a VERY small fire-tack with your flashlight. All fire-tacks are approximately 7-8 feet off the ground. Once you locate the fire-tack, walk to the tree that it is attached to. From there you will repeat this process and look for another fire-tack on another tree. Walk to that tree. Repeat this process 6 times and when you come to the 6th fire-tack, look for a small sized cache, located somewhere within or around that final tree.
The first fire-tack should be very easy to locate from the picnic table - now you have a sense of what you are looking for. The others may not be as easy to locate and may be a little farther away. You will not be traveling in any particular direction; they are not in a straight line. When you locate the tree with the fire-tack, you may have to scan 360 degrees around that tree before spotting the next fire-tack. There is no need to stand with your back right up against the tree, stand comfortably away from it (about 1 meter) and scan the tree line - looking for that tiny sparkle, about 7-8 feet off the ground.
Please do not touch, move, or re-move the fire-tacks. Ensure that the cache container is sealed and replaced well, back into it's hiding location, for the next cacher. As always, respect the natural environment around the cache, and most importantly - have fun!
