Cache Details:
This is located in a tiny, hidden courtyard at UD’s Pearson Hall. Cache hider is UD employee and can maintain/look after cache
Description:UofD's Pearson Hall was built in 1924 on High Street (later renamed Academy Street) as the Newark High School. After World War II, there was a population increase in Newark and the high school was moved to its location on E. Delaware Ave. This building served as a middle school until 1981. It was sold to University of Delaware in 1983, rededicated 1994 as Pearson Hall and houses the Geography Department, the Communications Department, and SLTV (UD's student-run television network).
The school from which the university grew was founded in 1743, making it one of the oldest in the nation. However, UD was not chartered as an institution of higher learning until 1833. Its original class of ten students included George Read, Thomas McKean, and James Smith, all three of whom would go on to sign the Declaration of Independence.
The University currently has approximately 16,000 undergraduate and 3,500 graduate students.
