This year Girl Scouts celebrates its 100th year!
This was originally placed as part of the Upper St. Clair Girl Scout Day Camp that was held in July, 2012. The girls got to learn all about geocaching and wanted to place a permanent cache, so they decided that this would be a great spot for it.
This cache is placed in South Park near the Girl Scout cabin. The road to the cabin is for authorized vehicles only, so, unless you are authorized, you will have to find another location to park. There are several options - some will have a shorter easier walk than others. Once you get to the cabin, the cache is only a few hundred feet further along the trail. The trail can be very muddy at times, but it is pretty level.
You may encounter several things along this trail! Horses, bikes and joggers pass by this spot frequently, so be sure to cover the cache up well and, if spotted, take the opportunity to explain geocaching to a muggle. The cache is hidden in a regular sized container about 15 feet off of the trail. There could be some thorns, so be careful.
When it was hidden, it was full of all sorts of things. There were Girl Scout patches, Girl Scout Swaps, some other Girl Scout themed items along with several other non-related items. Please trade fairly!
