Rhodos, "Church of Mesanagros, One of Many". Traditional Cache

A village in the south of Rhodos island, Greece. It belongs to the municipality of South Rhodes, and is located at a distance 83 km from Rhodes. The name Mesanagros, means cultivated, fenced large Byzantine farm.The village's history goes back centuries, as evidenced by historians and travelers. It has many old monasteries, as the Skiadeni celebrated on September 8. You will find Mesanagros at the south tip of Rhodos island.

It's a village hidden among the mountains. Small houses, examples of popular rural architecture, representing the tradition of the place. Interestingly Square Mesanagros the church of the Assumption, built in the 13th century. in place of the large three-nave early Christian basilica of the 6th century. Interesting visits in Skala of St. Thomas, a landscape with waterfalls and lush coniferous forest fauna and flora. Climbing the hill Cross allows the visitor to see both the seas bordering the southern island of Rhodes, from the eastern and western sides. Near Mesanagros is the Holy Monastery of Panagia Skiadeni, which owes its name to the shades (ie shady, summer landscape). For the miraculous image created many legends.The Protect, hanging on the slope of Gerakas, is another village in southern Rhodes. From the churchyard of the village, which is dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin (19th century). Vafmasei the visitor and the north side is dominated by Mount Attavyros. The mountainous area where there is the prophylactic, protected by the European Network NATURA 2000.

All people here are greek-orthodox in believing and there are greek-orthodoxe churches. This cache is placed outside of the Church area. everyone ca reach this area. Enjoy of the nice sight on the little village "Mesanagros"
