Geocache Description:

Welcome to Butts County, the Sweet Secret in the Heart of Georgia. Stealth will be required if searching for this cache during business hours. You are looking for a small plastic container with lots of goodies. Don’t overthink this one, you may just find a bright clue on something that isn’t being used for what it was meant to be. Happy hunting!

Butts County, located between Atlanta and Macon, was carved from parts of Henry and Monroe counties in 1825 by the state legislature and presented to Governor George Troup as a gift. The 187-square-mile county was named for Captain Samuel Butts, a Virginian who was killed in the Battle of Calabee in Alabama during the Creek Indian War of 1811-15.

We hope you take the time to visit Butts County and see what we have to offer.  Visit Jackson Lake, which was formed by the construction of the Lloyd Shoals dam in 1910,  Indian Springs (one the nations oldest state parks), and Dauset Nature Trails.  If you're in downtown Jackson, check out our Veteran’s Memorial Park.  While you're here, try one of our tasty restaurants and experience some of our small town southern hospitality. Thank you for visiting Butts County!

Be Sure to visit the Chamber of Commerce in the Historic Courthouse in the square! Disclaimer-This cache was placed with permission and as always please be respectful of your surroundings.
