This is a short walk to a small cache placed beside a public right of way with the kind permission of the property owner, whose boundary it is on. There is no need to enter the property as the cache is by the footpath.
The abandoned School house is located at the southern end of Loch Croispol not far from the Balnakeil Craft Village and would have originally sat within the township of Cnoc Breac. The School at Loch Croispol was constructed in the early 1760s. There is a notice board adjacent to the cache with more information. The School was officially closed in 1861.
The wonderful beach at Balnakeil Bay is well worth a visit. Cross the beach to Faraid Head and discover a wealth of wildlife…seals, puffins, guillemots, razorbills and fulmars can all be found depending on the time of year.
You are looking for a 400ml plastic screw top beaker with log book, swaps and a trackable gift for the First To Find. Please bring your own pen/pencil to sign the log.
