Geocache Description:

Close to the Hamner Springs Township on Jacks Pass Rd is the Hanmer Springs Recreational Hub where people can try their skills on the skateboard/BMX park, hone their skills on the tennis court and the kids can play on the play ground. In the summer time the domain can be used for a game of cricket and during winter the odd game of rugby is played. If golf is your game the Hanmer Springs golf coarse surround the recreational area and nearby you can try your hand in lawn mini golf.

Over the years I have brought the kids here to play on the play ground, run around the domain and generally explore the wooded area.

The domain is also the focal point for various sorting events including the Hanmer Springs MTB Series, the Hanmer Holiday Homes Alpine Marathon, the Alpine Holiday Homes DownHill Dash and the domain is also the finish line for the Rainbow Rage MTB race which I have competed in twice now. A challenging but enjoyable ride through some stunning remote alpine terrain.

This geocache been created to give visitors to Hanmer Springs the opportunity to see a part of Hanmer Springs that is often overlooked (easy walking distance from the town centre). Take a wee walk along the pathway that meanders between the tall trees, keep an eye out you may even locate the geocache. Hope you get the chance to visit this recreational area and enjoy the time invested there. You will need to take a pen along with you.
