Geocache Description:

Site of Hoshizaki Castle
It is not known when this castle was orignally built.
In the 16th century, after succeeding the Okada family,
the Yamaguchi family held the castle for generations
untill it was abandoned when Yamaguchi Shigemasa moved in 1588.

星崎城趾

星崎城は星宮社の北約１００ｍにある、標高１０ｍの
台地先端に築かれた中世城郭で、築城年は不明であるが
戦国末期には、織田氏に仕えた岡田重善、重孝が城主と
なった。江戸時代の地誌や絵図から本丸、二の丸、侍屋敷
大手門などを備えた本格的な戦国城館であった。
天正十六年(1588)廃城となった。
ここが古代尾張国祖館や戦国城跡であり考古学の重要遺跡
であったが大正時代鉄道敷地がかかり、遺跡が東西に分断
され、かっての掘り跡も埋められ往古の面影は見られない。
