Curbed Freedom (Getemde Vryheid) is the corner stone of democracy. The artist chose the Afrikaner bull to represent the peoples of South Africa, being symbolic of the vitality of young nations on the verge of adulthood who have to consider the need of the community. The youth of South Africa is seen as a powerful child in the prime of his life who will soon inherit the responsibility and take over the reins from their predecessors. It reminds us that the activities of each generation is meant to serve the following generation.
