BRPT - 15 Irish Lights Traditional Geocache
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
The third wave of the Blackrock Power Trail heads from the West Pier of Dun Laoghaire Harbour south-east for 2km to Sandycove Beach. Cache 15 is by the water’s edge near a little-known park next to the Irish Lights Headquarters. The “Irish Lights” organisation oversees all of the lighthouses around Ireland.
The Blackrock Power Trail Series (BRPT)
The series started its life in Idrone Terrace on Dublin Bay behind Blackrock Village and has now spread both north-west and south-east from the original Cache. Caches range from an easy 1/1 D/T through to the hardest being a 3/4.
The rules of Geocaching are such that no cache can be within 160 metres (0.1 miles or 528 feet) of another cache... so you will find that the caches in this series are generally about 200 metres apart from each other. There are also some other caches along the route that you may want to pick up as you go.
The 15th cache in the BRPT series is a regular size tab-lock container in a black camo bag… with a new set of headphones for the FTF (courtesy of Etihad Airways). The cache is beyond the fence barrier under a rock leading down to the water’s edge. For those cachers who have completed BRPT #12 (The Cave) – well this is very similar. Watch your footing – I almost went for a swim when placing the cache! Also, given the large number of potential hiding places, I have provided a generous hint (but only if you want to use it that is.... for the sign of a truly seasoned geocacher is score that non-decrypt find). If you crack this cache with a non-decrypted hint, then by all means unashamedly boast about it in your log.
