Geocache Description:

We decided to place a cache in a family cemetery.

The Perry Cemetery is located between Hersman and Cooperstown, Illinois. Many of my ancestors and other relatives are buried here. We couldn't resist mixing our two hobbies of geocaching and genealogy.

A plaque in the center of the burial ground reads, "In 1829-30 the Nathan Perry family, originally from North Carolina, migrated by covered wagon from Claiborne County, Tennessee to Brown County, Illinois, with the allied families of Benjamin Davis and Calvin Hurst. The first burials were said to be in the center of this cemetery with a wooden fence around them. They were Nathan Perry and his wife Rebecca Yarborough (my 5th great-grandparents); their son Edmond Perry and his wife Rachel Bridges (my 4th great-grandparents). In 1839 Rebecca was the first to be laid to rest in this cemetery."
My 3rd great-grandfather, James Perry, born in 1817 in Tennessee, buried not far from the cache.

You are looking for a plastic jar container with swag. There is a half-dollar inside for the FTF. It is within the cemetery boundaries but not near any graves. Please use proper cemetery decorum and be respectful of those interred here. DAYLIGHT CACHING ONLY. Only occasional muggles but there is a house nearby.

Congrats to awanderer on the FTF!
