Geocache Description:

Invercargill War Memorial

A cache placed at the Invercargill War Memorial know as Invercargill cenotaph This simple memorial to the men of Southland who fought in the World Wars is not far from the Southland Museum and is a must see. At night it is beautifully lit up. The cenotaph honors the veterans World War I, World War II, Korea, Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam and lists the names of the fallen from each war. The tall cenotaph has a statue of asoldier in World War I era uniform at its top. It is inscribed: Lest We Forget In Honour Of 7000 Southland Soldiers And Nurses Who Served In The Great War 1914 - 1918 And In Memory Of Those Who Fell Their name Liveth For Evermore FTF at 14:00 JANAURY 20 BLADESEDGE
