The Pines QR Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

inspicio: As there has been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it has been a number of months since the last owner note I am archiving this cache to keep from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact a reviewer (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, the reviewer will be happy to unarchive it.

Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

A multi-waypoint cache in a popular, beautiful park that's friendly for kids and for dogs alike.

First, an obligatory warning/spoiler, as a result of comments made in log entries below and a cacher allegedly being injured: The final GZ is located near a river with reasonably high banks (approx 1-2m dropoff in some areas). You do NOT need to cross the river itself to get to the cache - it is accessible via fully defined paths. But the river is definitely crossable by anyone with half a brain. However, I take no responsibility for your actions. If it's dark, wet, you have kids/your grandmother/a mentally disabled friend with you, or anything else, take appropriate precautions just like you would any other cache and stay safe!

As usual it's the few out there that try to spoil the fun for others. My opinion and that of several others is that this cache is no more dangerous than most others out there. Anyone with maturity or responsibility problems need not apply.

OK, on with the show. This is a multicache employing QR code technology and it's up to you, and your trusty smartphone, to go find it. The cache is located in the lovely Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve in Carrum Downs, not far from the new PeninsulaLink. Great place to take the kids and/or dogs and make a day of it - don't forget to check out the other caches in the park!

There are 3 waypoints with QR codes each linking you to a clue to the next before you finally reach the final GZ. Along with your bandaids and cotton wool (if you're a sook per warning above), you will need to bring with you:

  • A Smartphone with good 3G access
  • A QR Code reader on your Smartphone. For iPhones I recommend Scan, but there's plenty out there. Search Google Play or the App Store for "QR" and find a freebie
  • This might come in handy but is optional: http://bit.ly/RTAA4Q
