A small traditional cache on a footpath overlooking Garth Hill near Maesteg. Contains log and small pen, has room for some small TBs etc.
Not a cache and dash.
To get to the cache you will need to undertake a walk of about half a mile along a public footpath or farm track. The walk will be rewarded by beautiful peaceful views along Nant Cwmdu, a tributary of the Llynfi river.
The cache is alongside the path but requires some climbing ability to discover it. If you enjoy the walk then why not continue along the path and make a circular walk of four and a half miles - OS map recommended. Although I've marked the walk as 'dogs welcome' it is necessary to have the dog on a lead as there may be livestock nearby. Having undertaken some maintenance, I have upgraded the 'Terrain' as not only do you need to do some climbing but you will also have to cross a small mountain stream - one step wide, and secateurs would be advisable in late spring / summer.
