Geocache Description:


Riverfront Post Office This was the Sharpes Ferry Post Office. Date unknown. All along the river, at various landings plain wooden boxes and platforms would be affixed to trees so that passing steamers could pick up parcels to be taken to Silver Springs and Palatka for mailing. When I was a child I remember seeing such a platform rotting away on the side of a cypress tree. I'd like to think I saw the remains of one of these primative post offices. I thought it only fitting that I place a letterbox hybrid cache as part of this river series, to commemorate these stops along the way.
	This is a letterbox hybrid. You are looking for a cammoed 50cal ammo can that I won as part of one of the events at last year's FFF. It has some great swag in it and a very special stamp and pad for you to mark your book if you are into that. Please document your presense at the cache in whatever way you see fit but leave the stamp in place.
