While caching in Montana this summer I found several caches that had not been found in a long time. This made my finds more challenging and exciting.
Those poor lonely caches!
This challenge is to encourage geocachers to visit lonely caches.
Log only bring a writing utensil. TOTT maybe necessary as well. Please carefully replace the cache as you found it.
The 4 difficulty rating is for locating the lonely cache and then going to find it.
THE CACHE IS AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES. IN ORDER TO LOG THIS CACHE AS FOUND YOU MUST COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE.
The challenge is to locate a cache that hasn't been found for at least 6 months. Find the cache, sign the log and then log it as found online. Lonely caches might be caches in remote locations, challenging puzzles or multi caches or especially devious hides. Good Luck and enjoy the hunt! And be prepared to do maintenance if necessary.
In your log for this challenge cache, give the GC code of the lonely cache, the date it was last found and the date you found it. Don't worry about the day of the month...just count the months. There must be at least 6 months between dates.
For Example:
GC1T3R9 Night of the Grizzly (a night cache)
my find was on 7/1/2012. The last time it had been found was on 12/11/2011. 7 months since it had been previously found.
GCV4YE Crator ( a very challenging multi)
My find was on 7/15/2012. The last time it had been found was 10/26/2010. 21 months since it had been previously found.
GCBAEE Map Cache (an involved puzzle cache)
my find was on 7/26/2012. The last time it had been found was 10/14/2010. 21 months since it had been previously found.
Some geocachers may have already visited a lonely cache while playing the game...congrats you have already fulfilled the challenge.
All types of caches around the world are eligible for this challenge.
(You may sign the log before completing the challenge but not log it as found on geocaching.com until the challenge is complete. found logs that do not complete the challenge will be deleted.)
